We live in such a peculiar region, as if at the end of a certain part of the world. We have only 50 km to the border. And how many of the inhabitants of Podlasie have ever been to Belarus?
We were encouraged to go in this direction by the article by Kurier Poranny from 2004 'End of tracks, end of the world'. We wanted to see what has changed in this place and see 'the gate to another world' with the inscription MIR.
It takes less than an hour to reach the villages of Cisówka and Brzeziny. A short walk along the tracks (on this section they are already wider than European ones), which you can reach as far as Vladivostok and we reach the sign 'Border Road Belt'. We can't go any further.
Unfortunately, we did not take binoculars with us, but from this distance it seems that the inscription 'MIR' is no longer on the border.
We are moving to the Siemianówka reservoir. A strong wind blows, waves on the water and boats on the shore create a specific climate. We are surprised by the ease of encountering rare bird species with which we associated the Biebrza Valley more.
If you are overwhelmed by the weekend shopping spree, we encourage you to take a trip to the 'border of two worlds'.
